WORLD HEALTH DAY
Good
health adds life to Years!
The Global Health awareness day, officially known as
World Health Day is celebrated on 7th April under the sponsorship of
WHO and other related organizations. Envisaging the highest possible level of
health and well-being for one and all; the emphasis is on attempting to
increase awareness about the major health concerns, the repercussions of these
concerns as well as how to best handle these health issues.
Delhi Police is committed to the overall well being and
safety of the people including its very own workforce. In continuation of the
same, South District has pledged to help improve the health and well being of
the citizens; through igniting local partnerships with Hospitals and catalyze
efforts through a number of implementation plans and metrics. South District
has taken this forward and has organized health camps at different Police
Station of South District partnering with various hospitals in South District
like Max Hospital, Majeedia Hospital, Sukhmani Hospital, Aakash Hospital, Metro
Hospital, Chugh Hospital, Laxmi Life Line, S. R Hospital, Escorts Hospital as
well as Rotary Foundation and Through Citizen Alliance NGO.
In these ‘Health Camps’ the senior
citizens enrolled with South District andour workforce (both Male and Female
Police personnel) participated. Over
971 Police personnel (821 male and 96 female), 91 their family members residing
in police colonies in South district and over 177 Senior citizens were screened
for their complete body check-up that included Hemoglobin, Blood sugar fasting,
Urea, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, BMI, Dental, Eye Examination and ECG etc.
Apart from this, a special Mammography camp was organized for the female Police
personnel.
The team of doctors that included
physicians and general practitioners gave free consultancy to the Police
personnel, their families and the Senior Citizens and emphasized on the
importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle as a preventive care. This
included useful tips on dealing with stress, consumption of healthy food and
regularly exercising. A comprehensive report about the entire activity as well
as insights and actions for ‘Healthy and Stress free Living’ was presented to
the South District.
This report shall act as a health tracker.
So, in case, in future if our Police personnel and/or the senior citizens who
had participated in this Camp; need any help during health emergency, we will
be able to extend all possible assistance to them after referring to their
health record with us. We have also appointed a dedicated beat officer to keep
a tab on the health record of the senior citizen and to maintain the same from time
to time.
Our commitment further aims to mobilize
and inspire people and communities to improve health and work towards greater
well being. We hope to touch and improve the lives of our workforce.
