Delhi Police for ‘Social Equality’
It is not enough to be compassionate.
We must act!
The United Nations General
Assembly has decided to observe 20 February annually as ‘Social Equality
Justice Day’. It is a day recognizing the need to promote efforts to tackle the
issues such as poverty, economic exclusion and unemployment. The challenge of
Social Equality Justice is to evoke a sense of community that we need to make
our nation a better place, just as We make it a safer place.
Equality of
opportunity is the essence of Social Justice. To achieve “a
society for all” various governments made a commitment to the creation of a
framework for action to promote social equality and justice at national,
regional and international levels. They also pledged to promote the equitable
distribution of income and greater access to resources through equity and
equality and opportunity for all.
Delhi Police understands the repercussions
of social inequality on overall crime and Law&Order situation of the National
Capital. Lack of suitable opportunities to a section of people is detrimental
to the overall growth of the Nation. Delhi Police has taken humble steps in
this direction and has launched a “YUVA” scheme to provide job oriented
training and skill development for underprivileged youth across all over its
districts in Delhi.
Delhi Police South district
in continuation of this affirmative action for the community is launching a
flagship training centre under “YUVA” at CR Park Police Station in partnership
with Primero Skills. The training cum skilling centre would execute job enabled
training projects under the Indian government’s flagship skill program “Pradhan
Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana” under the Ministry of Skill Development.
Delhi Police has tied up
with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII) for providing mass job linked skill training for the selected
youth. National Skill Development Corporation shall be providing skill training
to the youth under ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna’ (PMKVY) and CII will
provide job linked training through its Sector Skill Councils who are connected
to industry and thereby provide job guarantee.
In the best of standards as
always displayed by South district, the training centre would have smart
classes and state of art labs that would impart job oriented certified computer
training for the local youth between the age group of 18-25 years, who are
under privileged, have been victim of fraud and belong to the Economically Weak
Sections of the society. The initiative “YUVA” under South district would be
showcasing how police stations would go beyond their role of maintaining law
and order to being a community partner and a social impact enabler in changing
lives gainfully for our youth.
The youth coming for skill
training in a police station building will be a huge step in building up their
confidence and faith in Police department. This initiative would also display
how a police station can be a ‘centre of learning’ catering to the needs of our
youths. Training courses initially would be offered in the sectors of
hospitality and retail computer skills certified by National Skill Development
Corporation in addition to , various soft skills, entrepreneurship abilities.
