WORLD NGO DAY

                             NGO (Non-Governmental Organizations) NPO (Non-Profit Organizations) is a non-profit, citizen-based group that functions independently. The NGOs are organized on local, national and international levels to serve specific social causes. NGO is playing a vital role in our society whose commitment inspires us. They are working for betterment and trying to up-lift the socio-economically weaker section’s of our society.
                                          
 27th February, The day is celebrated as World NGO Day.  On this occasion South District organized a ‘familiarization program’ at the office of DCP/South, Hauz Khas with various NGO’s that are working in various fields for making a better society. In this program various community policing initiatives taken by Delhi Police were discussed. We as part of our community outreach initiatives are working on following areas.
·       
          Women Safety: - We aspire to achieve the goal of ‘Safest city for Women’ through our initiative like Shistachar’,‘Sashakti’, ‘Nirbheek’ etc.
·      Skill Development: - Job oriented training program with assuredemployment for victims of crime through our‘YUVA’ initiative.
·         Milap/Pehchan: - Uniting lost children with their families.
·         Parivartan: - To bring in positive change and awareness in society.
·        Senior Citizen Care: - Aimed at providing safety and care to every senior citizen who lives alone.
·         Awareness: - Spreading awareness regarding Tobacco, Human rights, Law & Order etc. 
·    Police Family Welfare Society (PFWS):-Various welfare schemes for police families’ welfare.
                                               

                             There is lot to learn from NGOs, which are dedicated to positive change in the society. It gave us immense pleasure to hear about inspirational work of NGO’s.
                                

                             Representative of 42 NGO’s were present during the ‘familiarization program’. During the course of the program each NGO’s conveyed their areas of expertise & their past achievements. The possible area of common interest and areas in which both South District and NGO’s can collaborate in future were also discussed.  
We convey our sincere thanks to all NGO’s for their presence and for making this event a success.
